A groundbreaking partnership between the renowned Dutch simulator manufacturer SIM International and the prestigious RWL German Flight Academy heralds the beginning of a new era in flight training in Germany. From summer 2024, the construction of a state-of-the-art 737 MAX Full Flight Simulator, the first of its kind in Germany, will commence in Mönchengladbach. This advanced training device is provided by SIM International and will be operated by RWL German Flight Academy. The investment amounts to a double-digit million figure.
The new simulator, equipped with the latest visual and motion systems, will be available to interested customers from the third quarter of 2024 and promises to be a milestone in pilot training. Among the first major customers is the TUI Group, planning to use the Mönchengladbach site for several flight operations. “Therefore, the utilization will be very positive from the start,” says Jens Küper, Managing Director of RWL.
A special focus is on customers transitioning from the B737 NG to the more modern 737 MAX model. Thanks to RWL’s management of both simulator types at the Mönchengladbach site, these customers will find an optimal training environment, allowing for seamless transition training. Frank Uit den Bogaard, CEO of SIM International, is convinced: “RWL’s comprehensive experience and expertise in managing both simulators ensure that training here is of the highest level.”
